Graduated from Kimball Union Academy 1882; A. B. Dartmouth College 1886; LL. B. Columbian University 1889; LL. M. 1890. Was clerk in his father's general store in Strafford in 1886; clerk in the post office department at Washington, D. C. from 1886 to 1889; clerk at the Interstate Commerce Commission from 1889 to 1896; assistant examiner at the U. S. Patent Office from 1896 to 1898; and U. S. Chinese inspector, Boston and New York, from 1898 to 1902. Was with Silver, Burdett & Company, publishers, from 1902 to 1903; was New England manager for D. Appleton & Company from 1903 to 1905; the same for Silver, Burdett & Company since 1905; and a member of the latter firm since 1910. Republican; represented Strafford in the Vermont Legislature in 1906; served as aid-de-camp with the rank of colonel on the staff of Gov. George H. PROUTY from 1908 to 1910. Congregationalist. Member of Temple Lodge No. 54, Free and Accepted Masons, of Strafford; Mt. Lebanon Chapter, of Bradford; Vermont Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar, Windsor; Scottish Rite Bodies of Vermont, 32 degrees, Burlington; University Club, Boston; and a member of Dartmouth Club, Boston, and its president from 1910 to 1911. Residence at 16 Pelham Terrace, Arlington, Massachusetts; office at 221 Columbus Avenue, Boston [Suffolk County, Massachusetts]. In 1891 he [William Moore HATCH] married [Miss?] Mary P. J.
