Orange CAMP, Erastus C. Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, p 57 (portrait p 57) Erastus C. CAMP, of Orange, was born 08 March 1823 in Orange [Orange County, Vermont], and was the son of George and Lydia (PAINE) CAMP. Erastus was the oldest of a family of four sons and one daughter. Educated in the common schools of Orange, and Newbury Academy, he remained with his father until he was twenty-three years old, when he married and moved to one of the finest upland farms in Orange County, where he, still active and energetic, now resides, and carries his years lightly. A stalwart Republican, he has held most of the town offices during the past twenty years. He represented Orange in 1864-1865 and again in 1888, and was senator from Orange County in 1890. A plain, practical man of sterling common sense, he was elected by the town of Orange during the war as a special agent for the enlistment of recruits. On 14 April 1846 he [Erastus C. CAMP] married Caroline E., daughter of David and Eleanor (FULLER) PLATT. Three children were born to them: Homer D.; Clayton F.; and Oscar F., deceased. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
