My grandmother's brother, Oscar Ottoson, emigrated from Sweden to the USA in 1896. He was born in 1886 and died in New Milford in 1966. Looking for any information about him (children etc).  I know (by help from a nice woman in Connecticut) that he is buried at Center Cemetery. Anyone who cares to look if there is any inscription on his gravestone, I would be most grateful. His wife's name was Anna Belland. Thank you.

I am looking for the parents of Caroline Lewis b. 1835 in New Milford, Ct. I believe they are Abner Lewis b. 1794 and Chloe Fisher b. 1801, but have no documentation. Other siblings could be Charlotte, b. 1830, Cornelia b.1836, Abner Jr., b. 1837-38, Jane? b. 1839-40, William Lamson Jr. b. 1843 by a second marriage to William Lamson Sr. . I am pretty sure that Abner Lewis 1794 was born in New Milford, Chloe could have been born in the surrounding area of Washington, Warrren etc.

I have traced my Lyon line all the way back to Richard Lyon who arrived in Fairfield,CT in the mid 1600's with documentation.  Daniel Lyon arrived in New Milford,CT in the mid to late 1700's, the son of Jose and nephew of Nehemiah Webb who lived to 101.  There are not any Lyons listed in New Milford in "Lyon Memorial Richard and Henry".  There is a Lois Lyon on the 1790 census record having only 3 girls living with her. There are no other relatives I have found who moved with him, except possibly 2 or 3 that may have lived in Danbury,CT during the time when British General Tryon marched north to burn Danbury.  Can anyone tell me if he came alone or with a relative?  He was young.

I am researching the area of New Milford, CT in hopes of finding a link between a MORGAN and a BEECHER which occurs in my family line. An entry I found  mentions James Morgan b.1750 in Groton rem to Milford CT, who married Jerusha Beecher in 1766.  Jerusha was daughter of Eleazer Beecher, an early pioneer of New Milford. What I can't find is any list of children born to James and Jerusha Beecher Morgan, and this cuts my ties to Homan Beecher Morgan, who may have been their son. I am searching for ties to the Morgan and Beecher family for Homan Beecher Morgan, b. abt 1789 in CT. He wound up in Ogle Co, Illinois.  Reportedly Homan married a Susannah Townsend in Wyoming Co, Pennsylvania.  He was one of the 200 immigrants to the Wyoming valley from CT, probably with his father. Interestingly, another Morgan, Noble, I think, wound up in an adjoining county in IL. I see there was a Noble family in New Milford as well.
Do you have any information that might help me fill in some voids in my Homan Beecher Morgan tree?
Thank you.

I have been researching the migration of my FARR family from Connecticut - NY - Canada, which has lead me hear. The best confirmed record I have is my 5th G-GF John FARR who was married to Eunice ADAMS, dau of Richard ADAMS and Mary CADY. They had married and lived in Pomfret Conn. Circa 1754 or so they removed from Pomfret / Canterbury and the next record that I have for the family is in the 1790 Census of Dutchess and Orange Co, NY. John and Eunice do not appear, only their children in various places.   I do know that 2 of Eunice ADAMS sisters married two EARLE brothers. Rachael married John and Sarah (Rebecca) married Nathaniel. I recently found a Quaker record for Oblong NY that states that Benjamin Earl married Dorcas Benedict on March 22, 1787 in New Milford, Conn.  It also states that Benjamin was the son of Nathaniel and Rebecca EARL of New Milford Conn.  Knowing that the EARL's, some of the ADAMS', and John / Eunice FARR all left Canterbury around the same time cir 1754, I have been following an instinct that perhaps they all went to the same area, if only for awhile.   I am hoping and praying that someone may have additional info for any of these families and their where-abouts between the 1750's and the 1790's. Thanks in Advance.

I need help to find out what happened to my grandmother´s sister!   Anna Lovisa Björk was born in Sweden 23 May 1872, she went to America March-April 1895. The passenger records (Ellis Island) says that she was going to New Milford, Connecticut. What happend to her when she arrived to New Milford? Did she get any family? When did she die?   According to the passenger records two other girls from the same parish as Anna Lovisa - Anna S Carlson and Hilda M Carlson - were going to New Milford, too. What made three young girls from the same small parish in Sweden to go to the same small town in America in 1895? Jobs? Did they know somebody who lived there?   Any help at all would be appreciated to find out what happened to Anna Lovisa. Thank you!

I am trying to document information on Miranda Richmond.
1.  Her parents:  I believe her parents are Jonathan Richmond and Amarillis Chambers. She has a brother Oliver Richmond who was born about 1799 in New Milford, CT.  I can't document him either.  The other children of Jonathan and Amarillis are listed in the vital records of New Milford.
2.  Her marriage dates and places:  She married Asa Danforth and Enos Dimond.
3.  Her children by Asa Danforth:
4.  Her children by Enos Dimond:
5.  Her death date and place:  The last I have her, she is in Wisconsin in the 1860 Census, living with a daughter.
6.  Death dates and places for Asa Danforth and Enos Dimond.  (Enos may have gone by Enos John or John Dimond)
I have most of the children of Jonathan Richmond and Amarillis Chambers, but I can't document Miranda's birth.  The census says she was born in Vermont. Thanks for whatever you can offer.

I am researching my family name and wonder if anyone could help. I have traced the Baldwin surname back to Buckinghamshire in England. We are descendants of Sylvester Baldwin who died on the Ship Martin on his way to Milford Connecticut in 1638.

The Baldwin line I am following moved from Litchfield County, Connecticut to La Salle County Illinois. From there we ended up in Mid Michigan. I have one question that I cannot answer. The first Baldwin of my line to move to Farm Ridge, La Salle County, Illinois was Daniel Baldwin (1786 to 1860). Daniel married his cousin (If my records are correct) Susan Baldwin on November 8, 1809 in New Milford. This means that I am related to two separate Baldwin lines (very fascinating!). Unfortunately I can find nothing about Susan (except she was born in Connecticut in 1794 and died in Farm Ridge in 1854). I also have a record that says Susan's father was John Baldwin of Mount Toms, Conn.

Can anyone help me with Susan's background? Thank you in advance.

I would like some assistance in finding information on Seeley CLARK and his wife Mary (SHELDON) CLARK.  I found the family in the 1850 Census in New Milford (Seeley was age 45, Mary 35), but they moved to Illinois with their 11 children sometime prior to 1856. I have also obtained Seeley and Mary's marriage record from New Milford, dated 18 Sep 1833.  I believe Mary was born in Kent, not sure if Seeley was born in New Milford.

So far, I haven't been able to find any other record of them in Connecticut, and I would very much like to find out who their parents/siblings were.  I have found some information on the internet that Seeley's parents may have been Samuel CLARK and Martha/Patty (RICHMOND) CLARK.  However, to date I have not been able to corroborate this. I am seeking information about the family of William GEORGIA and Sarah CABLE who are supposed to have been married in New Milford prior to 1779 and resided in New Milford through the birth of their fourth child. Their four children were Elijah Burr (b.1779), William (b.1781), Alma (b.1783) and Miles (b.1785). I have birth dates only from secondary sources and would appreciate any information about the family or suggestions for locating marriage and birth records that could apply.

Need help to prove that Nathaniel STEWART was residing in Litchfield County, probably in or near New Milford, at the time he served in the Revolution. Military records indicate that he was from New Milford area but I need other proof of residence during the years 1775-1778/9. Will exchange info/pay for copies, etc. Thank you.
