Fort Atkinson; a native of Prussia; born May 17, 1821; came to America in the fall of 1845, to St. Louis, where he engaged to work on a steamboat as fireman for two years; he came to Koshkonong in the spring of 1847. He first purchased forty acres of the Government for $100 and sold it for $300; he afterward purchased 100 acres; he now owns 273 acres. Married, in December, 1840, Louise Becker, who was born in Prussia in June, 1826; they have eight children – Charles, Louisa, William, Emeline, Peter, Henrietta, Amelia and Kate.
