MICHAEL McHUGH, retired merchant; was born in Maine Dec. 9, 1833, located in Watertown in 1846; he went to California in the year 1854, where he remained till 1856, when he returned to Watertown, where he has since resided and been engaged in the mercantile business until recently. Married Miss Bridget Weaver Feb. 13, 1861; has four children – Terresa, born Jan. 22, 1862; Charles, Oct. 21, 1865; Willie, March 20, 1869; Edward, March 17, 1875. Mr. McHugh was elected School Commissioner in 1862, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of his brother Francis; in 1863, he was elected Alderman, which office he held during the years 1863 and 1864; he was again elected to that office in the spring of 1878, but resigned soon after his election.
