McCABE, proprietor of marble works; was born in Ireland in 1834; came to America in 1840; located in Philadelphia, where he learned and followed the marble trade till 1866, when he moved to Watertown and continued his business; he is now proprietor of the marble works on north side of Main street, west of the river. Married Miss Cathariue Dugan, of Milwaukee; they have eight children, as follows: Mary F., born Oct. 14, 1860; Andrew, Sept. 10, 1862; Sheridan, Sept. 7, 1864; John, Oct. 10, 1866; Kate, June 16, 1869; Susan, Oct. 25, 1871; Thomas, Nov. 13, 1874; Isabel, Feb. 7, 1877. He, wife and children are all members of the Catholic Church. Was in the 23d Ill. V.I., under Col. Wosen; enlisted in the spring of 1865, and was mustered out in August, 1865; was elected Alderman in the spring of 1879, but resigned soon after his election.
