WI BIO - Manitowoc Co - WINKELMILLER, Carl History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol II, p 539 Carl WINKELMILLER, proprietor, Two Rivers tannery, Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, was born 04 January 1825 in Saxony, Germany. In 1847 he came to New York City, and worked at the currier trade for a few months, then moved to Delaware County, New York, working at his trade for about five years. He then took a trip to Europe, remaining absent for two months, returning to this country and locating in Detroit [Wayne County, Michigan], where he remained for two years. About 1854 he came to Two Rivers, and was employed by the Wisconsin Leather Company for two years, when he established his present business, which he has since conducted. In 1853 he [Carl WINKELMILLER] was married to Miss Anestina MUILLER, of Saxony. They [Carl and Anestina (MUILLER) WINKELMILLER] have one son, Richard. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
