Graduated from the State Normal School, Johnson [Lamoille County, Vermont], and Comer's Commerical College, Boston [Suffolk County, Massachusetts]. Teacher in public schools of Elmore and Johnson [both in Lamoille County, Vermont]. Was principal of the Vermont Industrial School, Vergennes [Addison County], from 1890 to 1895. Assistant superintendent of the Vermont Industrial School from 1892 to 1896. Superintendent of the Stanwood School, Topsfield [Essex County], Massachusetts from 1897 to 1903. Superintendent of the Essex County Training School since 1903. Republican. Congregationalist. Member of the National Conference of Charities and Correction; the Vermont Association of Boston; the Monday Evening Club of Boston, and the Young Men's Christian Association of Lawrence.
