W. Grant FANCHER, educator, Lawrence [Essex County], Massachusetts, was born 
20 July 1869 at Fairfax [Franklin County, Vermont]; son of Hiram G. and Lucy 
L. (BARRETT) FANCHER. Graduated from the State Normal School, Johnson 
[Lamoille County, Vermont], and Comer's Commerical College, Boston [Suffolk 
County, Massachusetts]. Teacher in public schools of Elmore and Johnson 
[both in Lamoille County, Vermont]. Was principal of the Vermont Industrial 
School, Vergennes [Addison County], from 1890 to 1895. Assistant 
superintendent of the Vermont Industrial School from 1892 to 1896. 
Superintendent of the Stanwood School, Topsfield [Essex County], 
Massachusetts from 1897 to 1903. Superintendent of the Essex County Training 
School since 1903. Republican. Congregationalist. Member of the National 
Conference of Charities and Correction; the Vermont Association of Boston; 
the Monday Evening Club of Boston, and the Young Men's Christian Association 
of Lawrence. In 1894 Mr. [W. Grant] FANCHER married [Miss?] Belle Lucy 
WARREN of Morrisville [Lamoille County, Vermont]' they have one child, Warren 
Grant.
