Burlington: Ullery Pub Co, 1912, pp 177-178 Charles Fremont EDDY, merchant and manufacturer, Stowe [Lamoille County, Vermont], was born 27 April 1857 at Huntington [Chittenden County, Vermont], son of George and Hannah M. (TOLMENSON) EDDY. Educated in the public schools and Johnson Normal School [Lamoille County]. Reared on a farm; followed farming summers and taught school winters until he was married; then farmed and engaged in buying farm produce and stock until 1892, when he built his first creamery at Moretown [Washington County, Vermont]. Now has thirteen creameries, located at Montpelier and Waterbury Center [both in Washington County]; Stowe and Morrisville [both in Lamoille County], Westminster [Windham County], Cavendish [Windsor County], Hortonville (Hubbarton) [Rutland County], Richville in Shoreham [Addison County], Underhill [Chittenden County], Sheldon [Franklin County], Island Pond [Grand Isle County], and North Thetford [Orange County], with a total capacity of 110,000 pounds of butter weekly during the summer season besides cream, buttermilk, cottage cheese, skim milk, dried curd products, etc., shipped to Boston and other New England centers. Republican; represented Stowe in the Legislature, 1904; member of the committee on agriculture. Unitarian. Member of Mystic Shrine No. 56, Free & Accepted Masons, of Stowe; Tucker Chapter No. 15, Royal Arch Masons, and Lamoille Commandery No. 13, Knights Tenplar, of Morrisville; Mt. Sinai Temple, Mystic Shrine, Montpelier; Valley Lodge No. 16, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Waitsfield; Alhambra Encampment No. 20, Patriarchs Militant, I. O. O. F., Waterbury; Burlington Lodge No. 231, United Commercial Travelers, Burlington; the Grange; and the Fat Men's Club. In 1822 he [Charles Fremont EDDY] married [Miss?] Dora S.
