Burlington: Ullery Publishing Company, 1912,p 148-149 George Washington CLARK, Morrisville [Lamoille County, Vermont], real estate and cattle dealer, was born 10 June 1846 in Hyde Park [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Chester and Elvira (CROSBY) CLARK. Educated at Stowe High School [Lamoille County], and People's Academy, Morrisville. For about thirty years engaged in the purchase and sale of farm produce, mostly cattle, sheep, and wool; later has dealt also in real estate; from 1880-1884 was partner of Hon. Amory DAVISON, of Craftsbury [Orleans County, Vermont], buying and selling cattle extensively in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Mr. CLARK is a Republican; represented Morristown [Lamoille County] in the Legislature 1910; has been a member for Lamoille County of the Republican committee of the first congressional district for twelve years; notary public many years; member of cemetery committee twenty years; board of village trustees three years; and superintendent of the poor four years. In 1889 he [George Washington CLARK] married [Miss?] May H. NOYES, of Morrisville; she [May H. CLARK] died 1891; they had one daughter, Ruth; in 1905 he [George Washington CLARK] married [Miss?] Blanche M. ATWOOD, of Stowe; they have two children: Francis Atwood and May Elvira. Mr. CLARK is a Congregationalist; one of the prudential committee eight years. Member of Mt. Vernon Lodge No. 8, Free & Accepted Masons; Tucker Chapter No. 15, Royal Arch Masons; Coral Chapter No. 16, Order of Eastern Star; Lamoille Commandery No. 13, Knights Templar; Lamoille Grange; and Modern Woodmen of America.
