BULLARD, lawyer, Hardwick [Caledonia County, Vermont], was born 16 March 1860 in Eden [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Edwin and Olive (HARRINGTON) BULLARD. Educated at Johson State Normal School. Was clerk in general store 1880-1883; bookkeeper in straw hat factory, Milford [Worchester County], Massachusetts, three years; studied law with V. A. BULLARD; admitted to Vermont Bar 1889; practiced one year at North Hyde Park [Lamoille County, Vermont]; has since been in practice at Hardwick. In 1890 he [Bertrand E. BULLARD] married Ida PATCH of Johnson [Lamoille County, Vermont]; they have one son, Cabot L. Mr. BULLARD is a Democrat; member of state committee for Caledonia County for several years. A member of no church; liberal in his religious views. Biography of Vernon A. BULLARD - pp 133-134 (brother of Bertrand E.) Vernon A. BULLARD, lawyer, Burlington [Chittenden County, Vermont], was born 14 October 1858 at Hyde Park [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Edwin and Olive (HARRINGTON) BULLARD. Educated in the public schools of Hyde Park, and Vermont Normal School at Johnson [Lamoille County], class of 1880. From 1878-1884 taught schools in various parts of Vermont, twenty terms in all, meanwhile pursuing a course of study in the law department in the University of Michigan, at Ann Arbor [Washtenaw County], graduating in 1884. Began the active practice of law in Underhill [Chittenden County, Vermont], continuing ten years, when he removed to Burlington, where he has since resided and practiced. In 1885 he [Vernon A. BULLARD] married [his first wife] Fluella R. STOWE, of Morrisville [Lamoille County, Vermont]; They [Vernon A. and Fluella R. (STOWE) BULLARD] had two children, Haven Stowe and Augusta Ruth. Mrs. BULLARD [Fluella R.] died in 1894. In 1896 he [Vernon A. BULLARD] married [Miss] Annibell STOWE, a sister of his first wife. Mr. BULLARD is a Democrat; represented Underhill in the Legislature 1890, and the city of Burlington 1904; special inspector of U. S. treasury department for the district of Vermont 1892-1896; Democratic candidate for states attorney and member of Congress several times; member of school board of Burlington since 1904, and chairman since 1909; chairman county committee and delegate at large to Democratic national convention 1904.
