Burlington: Ullery, 1912, p 112 Gilman Addison BARROWS, farmer and road builder, Morristown [Vermont] was born 24 September 1836 in Morristown [Lamoille County, Vermont], son of Malachi and Patience (BENSON) BARROWS. Educated in the public schools. Followed farming previous to 1862, when he engaged in the meat business in Morrisville; in 1872 sold out and did trucking and express work until 1890. In 1892 was elected highway commissioner, and has been re-elected each term since; in 1906 was appointed county supervisor of highways, and has been reappointed each year since; has held various town offices. In 1862 Gilman Addison BARROWS married [Miss?] Ellen McMANIMON of Waterville [Lamoille County, Vermont]. She [Ellen BARROWS] died in 1895. They had three daughters: (1) Luella, Mrs. HART; (2) Ella, Mrs. PARKER; and (3) Blanche Belle, Mrs. REYNOLDS. In 1900 Gilman Addison BARROWS married Mrs. Elizabeth (STONE) HADLEY of Morristown. Politically Mr. BARROWS is a Republican, and religiously, a Universalist. He is a member of Lamoille Grange No. 233. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
