Oliver Durkee BACON, Elmore [Lamoille County, Vermont], farmer and carpenter, 
was born 09 October 1842 at Washington [Orange County, Vermont], son of Vine 
Newbury and Jane WILSON (ALLEN) BACON. Educated in the public schools, and 
People's Academy, Morrisville [Lamoille County]. Was engaged in carpentry in 
different Vermont towns for several years; since 1873 has followed the 
occupation of farmer. Republican. Represented Elmore in the Legislature, 
1904; has served as lister, town grand juror, and selectman. An attendant of 
the Methodist Church. In 1886 Oliver Durkee BACON married [Miss?] Phoebe 
Orilla HIBBARD, of Montpelier [Washington County, Vermont; they have two 
children: Ethan Allen and Mary Esther.
