Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 734 George WORTLEY, farmer, Section 30, Darlington Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, P. O. Darlington, was born 25 November 1836 in Leicestershire, England. He came to America in 1852, and the same year came to Wisconsin. He engaged in mining, afterward opened a farm, and since then has been engaged in agricultural pursuits. In 1863 he [George WORTLEY] married Mary Ann HARKER [a maiden name?], who was born in England. They [George and Mary Ann WORTLEY] have five children: (1) Elizabeth A., (2) Eliza J., (3) George A., (4) John R., and (5) Mary R. Mr. WORTLEY owns 130 acres of land. He holds the office of District Clerk. [Note there are two Lafayette County, Wisconsin, biographical sketches for persons named "George WORTLEY."
