WOODS, merchant tailor, Darlington [Lafayette County, Wisconsin], was born 24 September 1830 in Norfolk, England, where he grew up, and learned his trade in the city of London. He came to the United States in 1851, and went to Cincinnati [Hamilton County], Ohio. In 1853 he came to Chicago [Cook County, Illinois], where he worked at his trade several years with the leading merchant tailoring houses in the city. Mr. WOODS came to Rockford [Winnebago County, Illinois], and afterward went to Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin], and was engaged in cutting in clothing houses. He returned to Chicago, but could not live there nor in Milwaukee on account of his health. He came to Darlington [Lafayette County, Wisconsin] in 1868. He has had a large experience in his business, although he has suffered much from ill health. In May 1877 Mr. [E. L.] WOODS was united in marriage to Miss Anna E. TABOR, daughter of Charles TABOR, Esq., of Lafayette County, Wisconsin. They [E. L. and Anna E. (TABOR) WOODS] have one son, Herbert. MR. WOODS owns a good, finely improved farm near town [near Darlington] besides his town property, all a the result of his own industry. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
