W. A. SCOFIELD, farmer, Section 10 [Darlington Township, Lafayette County, 
Wisconsin], P. O. Darlington, was born 16 November 1830 in Brandon, Rutland 
County, Vermont, where he grew up and attended school. He came West to 
Wisconsin in 1854 and settled in Lafayette County, engaged in farming, and 
has continued in that business since then except for one year in the hardware 
trade. He has held town offices.

In 1851 Mr. [W. A.] SCOFIELD was united in marriage to [Miss?] Jane A. 
THOMAS, of Brandon [Rutland County] Vermont. She [Jane A. SCOFIELD] died in 
1867. He [W. A. SCOFIELD] afterward married [Miss?] Laura J. WHEELER, who 
was born in New York State. She [Laura J. SCOFIELD] died 04 July 1876.
