SCACE, farmer, Section 23 [Gratiot Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin], P. O. Warren [Jo Daviess County], Illinois, was born 22 October 1842 in Albany [Albany County], New York. He came to Wisconsin in 1854 with his parents, where they bought 320 acres of land. When Charles was twenty-one years of age he went to the Rocky Mountains and remained four years. He then returned to Wisconsin and bought eighty acres, which he improved. He now owns 197 acres , 120 of it well improved. In 1867 he [Charles E. SCACE] married [Miss?] Anna SANFORD, who was born in February 1845 in Tompkins County, New York. They [Charles E. and Anna SCACE] have had five children: (1) Edgar, born 17 January 1868; (2) Elizabeth, born 23 January 1870; (3) Mary, born 20 September 1873; (4) Frederick, born 27 May 1875; and (5) Julia Ann, born 21 June 1878. In politics Mr. SCACE is a Republican, and in religion, a believer. He has been Pathmaster and Clerk of the School Board. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
