Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 751 Edwin SAWTELL, farmer, Section 32 [White Oak Springs Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin], P. O. White Oak Springs, was born 02 May 1829 in Erie County, Pennsylvania. In 1834 he came with his parents to Chicago [Cook County, Illinois], thence to Ohio. In 1840 he came to Boone County, Illinois, and in 1842 he removed to White Oak Springs [Territory of] Wisconsin. In 1850 he went to California, engaged in mining and merchandising until 1853, and then returned to White Oak Springs, where he has since lived. He owns eighty acres of land. In 1852 he [Edwin SAWTELL] married [Miss?] Mary J. NEVILLE, who was born in 1833 in Scales Mound, Jo Daviess County [Illinois]; she is the niece of Colonel James COLLINS. They [Edwin and Mary J. SAWTELL] have ten children, six sons and four daughters. Mr. SAWTELL has been Justice of the Peace for the past twenty-seven years, and has been Assessor and Township Clerk about fifteen years.
