ROY, dealer in hardware and house furnishing goods, Main Street, Darlington, Darlington Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, was born 28 January 1849 in Shullsburg [Town 1 North, Range 2 East, Lafayette County, Wisconsin]. He grew up and attended school there [Shullsburg]. In 1866 he went to California and remained there two years, returned in 1868, came to Darlington, and established his present business. He has since carried on the business, and has built up a good trade. In October 1873, Mr. [John B.] ROY was united in marriage to Miss Dora METCALF, who was born in Wisconsin. They [John B. and Dora (METCALF) ROY] have had one daughter, Gertie, who is now deceased. Mr. ROY has held the office of City Councilman [in Darlington].
