John ROWLANDS, farmer, Section 10, Town of Belmont, Lafayette County, 
Wisconsin, P. O. Belmont, was born 08 July 1833 in North Wales. In 1848 he 
came to Waukesha County, Wisconsin; in 1849 to Dodgeville [Iowa County, 
Wisconsin]; in 1850 removed to Peoria [Peoria County], Illinois; and in 1852 
came to Belmont [Lafayette County, Wisconsin].

In September 1867 he [John ROWLANDS] married [his first wife] Jane HARRIS [a 
maiden name?], who was born in 1843 in London, England, and died 03 September 
1876. They [John and Jane ROWLANDS] had three children: (1) Elizabeth J., 
(2) John, and (3) Anna.

On 06 July 1880 John ROWLANDS married [his second wife] Mary EVANS [a maiden 
name?], who was born in Wales, and came to Wisconsin with her parents when a 
child. Mr. John ROWLANDS owns 120 acres of land [in Lafayette County, 
Wisconsin].
