ROCKWELL, farmer, Section 34, Town of Wayne, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, P. O. Warren [Jo Daviess County, Illinois], was born 05 March 1832 in Tompkins County, New York. He came to Allegany County [New York], then to Chautauqua County, New York, then to Wisconsin in 1857. His father bought forty acres of land, made the improvements, and died 22 August 1872. His mother lives with his brother, and was eighty-one years of age on 28 August 1880. J. P. ROCKWELL has since bought 107 and a half acres of land, sold, and now owns 200 acres of land. His house is 16 x 24, with a wing 12 x 20, and the barn is 74 x 34 x 40. He has been engaged in the thrashing machine business for the past twenty-five years. In 1853 he [J. P. ROCKWELL] married Jane MORLEY [a maiden name?], who was born 15 August 1836 in Chautauqua County, New York. They [J. P. and Jane ROCKWELL] have had nine children: (1) Fannie, now Mrs. ELLIS; (2) Hiram; (3) Florence; (4) Minnie; (5) Rennie; (6) Henrie; (7) Rosella; and two infants, deceased. In politics Mr. ROCKWELL is a Republican, and in religion, a believer. He has been School Director and Pathmaster several times. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
