COLE, collector, Town of Gratiot, was born in Gratiot [Lafayette County, Wisconsin] on 11 July 1849; lived at home until he was twenty-one years of age, when he was engaged in a store for himself one and a half years at Riverside [County, Wisconsin]; was agent of the Mineral Point Railroad one year; was Deputy Sheriff and Constable nine years; owned town property and three acres of land. His [Ed W. COLE's] wife, Mary E. WEBB [a maiden name?], was born in Pennsylvania in 1855; married 1873, and have two children: (1) Nettie, born 01 January 1875; and (2) Edith, born in February 1877, died in March 1877.
