ROBERT KRAUSE, merchant, Hebron; born is Prussia Feb. 3, 1833; the early part of his life was spent in his native county; came to America in 1859, locating in Helenville. Enlisted in August, 1862, in 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery; was stationed in and about the defenses of Washington, D. C., and helped repulse Early's attack on the city. On his return in June, 1865, he opened a boot and shoe business in Hebron; in 1876 he built his present large store, where he has a general stock of goods, dry goods, groceries, hardware, boots and shoes, drugs, notions, etc., and is doing a satisfactory business. He married Miss Caroline Glipes in 1857; they have two children - Augusta and Anna. Mr. Krause is a Democrat; is liberal in religion, and a member of Hebron Lodge, I.O.O.F.
