ROBERT B. KIRKLAND,  attorney at law, Jefferson; born March 8, 
1849, in Glasgow, Scotland; entered the English Navy in 1862, and 
served nearly eight years; came to America in winter of 1869, and to 
Jefferson in the spring of 1870; studied law with I.W. & G.W. Bird, and 
was admitted to the bar in February, 1875, and has been in practice in 
Jefferson ever since.  Married Miss Ella Antoinette Bird, daughter of 
Judge Bird, April 13, 1873; she was born Oct. 25, 1854, in town of 
Aztalan; they have two children – Ira Bird, born in St. Paul March 25, 
1874, and Jessie Louise, born in Jefferson Jan. 12, 1876.
