Ryan [Kewaunee County, Wisconsin], was born 01 January 1819 in Rutland County, Vermont. On 05 September 1842 he came to Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Territory of Wisconsin]. In 1843 he removed to Illinois. From 1844 to 1847 he followed sailing and lumbering. He then located at Sheboygan Falls [Sheboygan County; in the Territory of Wisconsin if he located there before 29 May 1848, when Wisconsin became a state], where he followed farming. In November 1854 he came to his present farm, consisting of 290 acres; 200 acres of this land is under cultivation and well improved. He has been largely engaged in lumbering, although for several years past he has followed only farming. Has held about all the town offices, and has held the office of Postmaster the past sixteen years. Mr. WILMOTT is the first settler of this town. On 21 January 1847 he [J. F. WILMOTT] was married to Eliza NORRIS. She is a native of the Isle of Wight [which is part of Hampshire County, the Isle of Wight being located off the south coast of England. It is unknown to submitter if Eliza NORRIS has any ancestral connection to the Isle of Wight's "Norris Castle" at East Cowes.
