Chicago: Western Historical, 1879, p 706 Joseph RODDEL, farmer, Section 13, Pleasant Prairie Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, P.O. Kenosha, was born 03 November 1832 in Cambridgeshire, England. He came to America in the spring of 1841, and stopped for some time in New York State. He then moved to Huron County, Ohio, lived there two years, and about 1846 came to Pleasant Prairie, settled on his farm of 240 acres in the spring of 1864 [1846?], and raises grain and stock of all kinds. Joseph RODDEL was district Clerk of schools for six years. [Pleasant Prairie was part of Racine County until 26 January 1850, when Kenosha County was created, the State of Wisconsin having been created 29 May 1848. Prior to statehood, what became Wisconsin was part of the Territory of Wisconsin, formed 20 April 1836. From 1818 until that date in 1836, Wisconsin Territory was part of Michigan Territory.
