Chicago: Western Historical, 1879, p 724 Mrs. Catherine RILEY, farmer, Section 14, Brighton Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, P. O. Brighton, was born in County Meath, Ireland. The former Miss Catherine SIMONS married in October 1841 in New York City, Mr. Hugh RILEY, who was born in 1797 in County Meath, Ireland. Shortly after marriage they came to Brighton Township, where he located and engaged in farming, an occupation he [Hugh RILEY] industriously followed up to within a few months of his death in December 1876. He had accumulated a valuable property. Hugh and Catherine (SIMONS) RILEY had five children: (1) Mary, born 25 October 1842; (2) Richard, born 04 November 1844, who died in September 1861; (3) Margaret, born 04 October 1846; (4) Anna, born 20 April 1849; and (5) James, born 15 September 1852. They own 115 acres of fertile land in Brighton, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, with commodious barns and a comfortable house. Mrs. RILEY has been a member of the Brighton Roman Catholic Church ever since its organization, and her husband was one the foremost in the organization and building of the Church.
