WI BIO - Kenosha Co - REYNOLDS, B. F. History of Kenosha and Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Lyman. Chicago: Clarke Publishing, 1916, vol II, pp 189-190 Among the highly esteemed citizens of Wilmot, Salem Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, is B. F. REYNOLDS, a well-to-do retired farmer, eighty years of age, his birth having occurred on 14 January 1836 in Washington County, New York , his parents having been John and Mary (KENYON) REYNOLDS. The father [John REYNOLDS] was a farmer by occupation. B. F. REYNOLDS attended the district schools and supplemented the education by study at an academy during two winters. He remained at home, assisting his father with the farm work, until he was twenty-three years of age, when he was married and rented a farm of 140 acres in Washington County, New York, which he operated for four years. Subsequently he spent a year on another rented farm in that locality. In 1865 B. F. REYNOLDS came west and located in Randall township, Kenosha County, where he purchased 120 acres. He concentrated his energies upon the operation of and improvement of his farm, erecting modern buildings and bringing the soil to a high state of development. He followed general farming, believing that to be more profitable than specializing in either grain or stock raising, and was actively engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1908, when he rented his land to his son and removed to Twin Lakes [Randall Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin]. A year and a half later, however, he erected a good residence in Wilmot [Randall Township], where he has since lived. On 31 August 1859 Mr. [B. F.] REYNOLDS was united in marriage to Miss Caroline D. TEFFT, a daughter of Joseph and Lydia TEFFT, a native of New York. Her father devoted his time to farming in Washington County, New York. To B. F. and Caroline D. (TEFFT) REYNOLDS have been born three children: (1) Oliver, who operates the home farm, married Ottilia D. REICH, by whom he has four children: Helen, Frances, Caroline, and Franklin O.; (2) Susan E., who resides with her father; and (3) Cora A., who is deceased. Mrs. [Caroline D.] REYNOLDS passed away 15 January 1893. Mr. [B. F.] REYNOLDS is an adherent of the Republican party, and in religious faith he is a Baptist. His life has conformed to high standards of ethics. He has won an honored name, and at the same time has gained a gratifying measure of material prosperity. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
