WI BIO - Kenosha Co - AMORY, Eugene H. The City of Kenosha and Kenosha County, WI. Chicago: S. J. Clarke Pub. Co., 1916, Vol II, pp 475-476 Eugene H. AMORY, who came to Kenosha, WI, in Dec 1913, as Superintendent of the N. R. Allen's Sons Company, the largest plant owned individually in the world, was born in NY on 28 Dec 1886, his parents being John J. and Mary S. AMORY. John J. AMORY, a boat builder, has devoted his entire life to that pursuit, and both he and his wife are still residents of NY. At the usual age, Eugene H. AMORY entered the public schools of his native [p 476] city, and afterward became a student in the PA Military College, where he pursued a civil engineering course, graduating with the class of 1904. He started out in practical business life in connection with the U. S. Leather Company, securing an humble position, but soon worked his way upward. He spent 14 months in Germany, France, and England, studying the leather business in every phase, and following his return he was made Superintendent of the plant of the U. S. Leather Company in Paw Paw, WV. There he continued until Dec 1913, when he came to Kenosha, WI, and has since been Superintendent with the N. R. Allen's Sons Company. Only a most throughout trained and expert man could occupy this position, for as such he has direct supervision over the labors of 1,100 workers. On 24 Feb 1914, Eugene H. AMORY was married to Miss Nell D. MOORE, of Pittsburgh, PA, and they have a son, Eugene H., Jr. The senior Eugene H. AMORY gives his political endorsement to the Republican party, and is well versed on the questions and issues of the day, but concentrates his attention upon his business affairs. Already he has attained a position notable for his years, an indication of still greater success in the future. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
