RISK, merchant, Wonewoc [Wonewoc Township, Juneau County, Wisconsin], was born in 1833 in Vermont, and in 1835 the family moved to Erie County, New York, where he lived about twenty years. Soon after marriage the RISKs started West, and went via the lakes to Milwaukee [Milwaukee County, Wisconsin], and thence by train, arriving on 05 July 1855 at Wonewoc [Juneau County, Wisconsin]. Mr. [R.] RISK immediately purchased 200 acres of Government land and commenced farming, which, in connection with hunting and trapping, he followed for ten or twelve years, after which he worked in a store and hunted and trapped until 1876, when he engaged in the mercantile business, an occupation which he still follows. In the spring of 1855 he [Mr. R. RISK] was married to [Miss?] Mary PIERCE, who was born in 1836 in Erie County, New York. The living children [of R. and Mary RISK] are: Julius B., Reuben H., and James W. Mr. R. RISK is a stockholder of the Case Wagon Company. He has held various town offices. Politically he is a Democrat, and fraternally belongs to the Ancient Order of United Workmen. [See also the Juneau County, Wisconsin, biography of George WILLARD, which names R.
