ROSSMAN, lawyer, Merrillan [Alma Township, Jackson County, Wisconsin], was born 14 August 1856 in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. He studied law for eighteen months, and also read law two years under R. J. McBRIDE, at Neillsville [incorporated in 1882; located in Clark County, Wisconsin]. George P. ROSSMAN moved to Merrillan [Jackson County], 01 May 1881, and started an office for himself. He is a member of the Royal Arcanum at Neillsville. [Merrillan was the point of interchange for the West Wisconsin Railroad (which reached Merrillan in 1869) and the Green Bay & Minnesota Railroad. Both railroads are shown on an 1878 map of Jackson County. The West Wisconsin Railroad linked Merrillan with St. Paul, Minnesota, 100 miles away.] Submitted by Cathy Kubly
