WILLIAH HERBST, tailor, Fifth Ward, Dodge Co.; born in Mecklenburg, Germany, Jan. 5, 1837; came to America in 1851; located in New York City; remained there until 1852; then came to Watertown; commenced learning the tailor’s trade in Germany when only 14 years of age; has continued to work at the same business ever since. He was married in Watertown to Paulina Roder March 5, 1856; she was born in Silesia; they have had nine children; lost five; the living are Paul, Robert, Priscilla and Emma; those who have died were named William, Calvin, Emil, Willie and Eddie.
