Isaac ZIMMERMAN came to Spring Grove [Spring Grove Township, Green County, 
Wisconsin] in April 1869, and bought ninety acres of improved land, known as 
James FARMER's place, on Section 36, where he [Isaac] now lives. He [Isaac 
ZIMMERMAN] was born in Pennsylvania, and was reared in Northumberland County. 
He was inclined to come West on account of his children having preceded him. 
His [Isaac ZIMMERMAN's] son, George [ZIMMERMAN], came West in 1853, and has 
been a resident of this town [Spring Grove, Green County, Wisconsin] since 
1855. His [Isaac's] son, Henry [ZIMMERMAN], came West in 1853, and now lives 
on Section 27. Benjamin [ZIMMERMAN] came with his father [Isaac], and now 
lives on Section 34. Mr. [Isaac] ZIMMERMAN had [had along with him, not 
"had" in the sense of begat] two married daughters Catharine and Lavina, and 
Elizabeth, a grandchild.

Catharine [nee ZIMMERMAN] was married 30 June 1872 to Thomas O. CAVENAUGH, a 
son of John O. CAVENAUGH. His [Thomas O. CAVENAUGH's] mother died when he 
[Thomas] was five years old, and he was brought up by Reuben BABCOCK. They 
[Thomas O. and Catharine (ZIMMERMAN) CAVENAUGH] have two children: Addie, 
born 24 May 1873; and Rowena, born 21 February 1876.

Lavina was married to Andrew LAUBY, and the grandchild, Elizabeth, was 
married to John MOYER. [Therefore one can tentatively assume, before 
checking primary and other records to support information given in this 
biography, that the granddaughter named Elizabeth was the daughter of Andrew 
and Lavina (ZIMMERMAN) LAUBY, since neither of the two daughters of Catharine 
(ZIMMERMAN) CAVENAUGH (Addie and Rowena) are named Elizabeth.]

Another daughter, Hettie, came West. She was married to Fredrick GABLE. 
They [Fredrick and Hettie (ZIMMERMAN) GABLE] settled in Winnebago County, 
Illinois [located just southeast across the Wisconsin-Illinois border from 
Green County, Wisconsin], where she [Hettie (ZIMMERMAN) GABLE] died. A child 
she [Hettie (ZIMMERMAN) GABLE] left was adopted by John READER. Mr. [John] 
Reader lives in Winnebago County [assume author means Winnebago County, IL, 
not Winnebago County, Wisconsin]. They [Mr. and Mrs. John READER] have two 
children and two adopted children. Mr. [Isaac] ZIMMERMAN lost his wife [who 
is not named] by death on 15 September 1875, at the age of sixty-seven years. 
[Thus the children of Isaac ZIMMERMAN named above are: George, Henry, 
Benjamin, Catharine, Lovina, and Hettie]
