Springfield, IL: Union Publishing, 1884, p 1093 Benjamin ZIMMERMAN was born in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, 19 Oct 1830, a son of Isaac ZIMMERMAN. His father [Isaac] was a farmer and Benjamin was reared on a farm. He [Benjamin ZIMMERMAN] was married to Amanda SAVAGE, who was born in Northumberland [Northumberland County], Pennsylvania, in 1836, and came to this county [Green County, Wisconsin] in 1860, locating in Spring Grove [Spring Grove Township, Green County, Wisconsin] and living the first eighteen months in a house on the John H. WOODLING farm. He [Benjamin ZIMMERMAN] bought eighty acres on Section 34 and built a house, into which he moved during the fall of 1870. He has since resided there, and owns also thirty acres on Section 26. Benjamin and Amanda ZIMMERMAN have had the good fortune to be blessed with eleven children, all of whom are now living: (1) William, born in June 1855; (2) Galen, born in August 1856; (3) Lavina, born in September 1859; (4) John S., born in December 1861; (5) George T., born in February 1864; (6) Isaac A., born in October 1866; (7) Sarah E., born in October 1868; (8) Catharine, born in May 1871 in Green County, Wisconsin; (9) Riley, born in June 1873; (10) Maggie, born in October 1874; and (11) Annie, born in June 1877.
