Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, p 772. Clark WILLIAMS was born 01 June 1845 at Freeport [Stephenson County], Illinois, son of Seth C. and Tharza (LYON) WILLIAMS. The father [Seth C. WILLIAMS] born 26 January 1806 in Cattaraugus Co New York, and the mother [Tharza nee LYON] was born 23 June 1804; they were married 07 February 1827. They came west and settled in Freeport, Illinois in 1840, farming there until 1849. They removed to this town [Green County, Wisconsin] and settled on Section 29, buying 100 acres of land. Seth C. WILLIAMS died 20 July 1883, and his wife, Tharza (LYON) WILLIAMS, died 02 October 1879. They [Seth C. and Tharza (LYON) WILLIAMS] had born to them eight children: (1) John N., living in Douglas County, Nebraska; (2) Lysanus W., who lives in Berkeley [Alameda County] California; (3) Marilla, who died in 1851; (4) Maypelyt M., wife of David Brandley of Rock Grove [Stephenson County, Illinois; (5) Chester, who enlisted in Company B, 18th Wisconsin Volunteers and died in the service; (6) Clark, who lives on the homestead; (7) Lusetta H., wife of Peter MELLIS of Douglas County, Nebraska; and (8) Milton, who died in 1851. Clark WILLIAMS, who with the exception of the time he was in the army lived with his parents, enlisted 02 October in Company D, 1st Wisconsin Heavy Artillery. The battery was ordered to Louisiana in February 1864, and he served in that department until the close of the war. He was mustered out 18 August 1865 at Alexandria, Virginia. Returning to his home, Clark WILLIAMS was married 14 November 1867 to Abbie BLAISDELL, daughter of John BLAISDELL, of the Town of Wayne, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. [This paragraph inserted by submitter.] The BLAIDELL family came to Wisconsin in 1856. The father, John BLAISDELL, a farmer of Section 27 in the Town of Wayne, P. O. Spafford [Lafayette County, Wisconsin], was born in Maine on 13 December 1807. With his son he purchased 160 acres in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, and made the improvements; his son died in 1870; he now [1881] owns 156 acres of land. John BLAISDELL was married in 1833 to Lavina HURD [a maiden name?], who was born in 1807 in the town of Shopley, York County, Maine. John and Lavina WILLIAMS had ten children: (1) Julia Ann, now Mrs. PRESCOTT, in Warren [Jo Daviess County], Illinois; (2) J. C.; (3) William E.; (4) George U., deceased; (5) Charles E., deceased; (6) Abbie, deceased [who was married to Clark WILLIAMS]; (7) an infant, deceased; (8) Mary H., deceased; (9) Lorina Jane, who is Mrs. ROCKWELL; and (10) Joseph S. In politics John BLAISDELL is Republican, and in religion, United Brethren. He has held school offices a number of years.
