WI BIO - Green Co - WILCOX, Asahel History Green County, Wisconsin. Springfield, IL: Union Publishing, 1884 p 1012 Asahel WILCOX, a native of Connecticut, came from Janesville [Rock County, Wisconsin] in 1853 and settled on Section 3, Mt. Pleasant [Mount Pleasant Township, Green County, Wisconsin], where he resided until the time of his death which occurred 01 January 1868. His widow died in March 1879. They were the parents of ten children, three of whom are living: (1) Lodena, the wife of James BARNES, who lives in Kansas; (2) Junet, who lives in Trail County, Dakota [Traill County, Dakota Territory; since 1889 Traill County, North Dakota]; and (3) Edgar, who was born 19 August 1838 in Wayne County, Ohio, and was eight years of age when his parents came to the Territory of Wisconsin and settled at Janesville [Rock County], where they resided until 1853. [Assuming the birthdate for Edgar WILCOX is correct and that he was eight went they came, then by calculation the family of Asahel WILCOX came to the Territory of Wisconsin and settled at Janesville sometime between 19 August 1846 and 19 August 1847. Wisconsin became a state 29 May 1848.] He [Edgar WILCOX] was married 01 December 1870 to Eliza, daughter of Thomas and Ellen CAMPBELL. They [Edgar and Eliza (CAMPBELL) WILCOX] have four children: Edgar E., Eliza A., Nellie M., and William H. He [Edgar WILCOX] settled, at the time of his marriage, on his present farm, which he had previously purchased. The land was timbered, but is now cleared and fenced, and in a good state of cultivation. He has erected good frame building, set fruit trees, and has a desirable home. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
