Jefferson County, Wisconsin – Biography MICHAEL FUCHS was born in Bavaria abt. 1820. He married Appolonia Jabobsky in Bavaria abt. 1850. Their 1st child, Mary, was born in Bavaria and made the trip from Germany to America with her parents as an infant. Michael and Appolonia immigrated to Jefferson County Wisconsin in July of 1852. They settled in the Rome area and later moved to the Sullivan area. Michael Fuchs was naturalized Feb. 17th 1860. John Higbie and George Angemeyer signed Michaels naturalization papers swearing before the court that Michael Fuchs was a good person. Sometime around 1860 the spelling of Fuchs was changed to Fox. Michael and Appolonia had 7 more children born in Jefferson county for a total of 8 children. George Fox, b.21 Nov 1852 in Rome WI, d. 14 Jul 1922 in Rice Lake WI. George married Katherine Dvorak in Watertown WI 23 Nov 1880. 3.) William Fox, b.27 Aug 1855 in Rome WI, d.20 Jan 1935 in Joliet IL. 4.) Peter Fox, b. 15 May 1857, d. 22 Jan 1943 in Joliet IL. 5.)Barbary Fox, b.19 Apr 1859 in Rome WI, d. 19 Jan 1925 in Montana. 6.) John Fox, b. 1862 in Sullivan WI. 7.) Matilda Fox, b. 14 Mar 1865 in Sullivan WI, d. 23 Nov 1951 in Los Angeles CA. 8.) Christina Fox, b. 1868 in Sullivan WI. Michael Fuchs signed a will 17 Nov 1871 leaving all his worldly possesions to his wife Appolonia. Michael died 9 days later on 26 Nov 1871.
