Obituary - From the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter -- Dated: 10-18-1935

DALSON, MRS. ROSE
LONG SICKNESS FATAL
Mrs. Rose Dalson, 48, Lifelong Resident of City, Expires at Her Home. Mrs. Rose Dalson, 48, wife of Harry Dalson, lifelong resident of the city, died at 1:40 a.m. today at her home, 222 West Follett Street, after a prolonged illness. She was born March 29, 1887, in this city. Surviving are her widower, a daughter, Bonita at home; her mother, Mrs. Mary DeRusha, and two brothers, William and Frank DeRusha, all of this city. A son, James, died six months ago. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday from the Hardgrove and Gordon funeral home and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery

DANA, MISS AGNES
Miss Agnes E. Dana, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Dana, county pioneers who came to Fond du Lac in 1845 from Buffalo New York, died Thursday at St. Agnes Hospital following several months illness. Born March 14, 1868, in Fond du Lac, she spent her entire life in this city with the exception of 15 years prior to 1945 when she resided at Ashbury Park, New Jersey with her sister, Miss Mary Dana, who died several years ago. Miss Dana was a member of St. Mary's Court 945 W.C.O.F. and of the Altar Society of St. Mary's Church. Services will be held from the Zacherl Funeral Home to St. Mary's Church
where rites will be conducted Saturday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery.

DANA, GEORGE P.was born in the town of Empire, Fond du Lac Co., Nov 25, 1849; came to city of Fond du Lac when 6 years old, and attended school, with the exception of working six months at the jeweler's trade, until 14 years of age; after that, he clerked one year for the N.L. Bullis, in a grocery store, and then began, in 1865 the business of a gunsmith with T. S. Weeks, which he has followed ever since; in 1877, he was appointed First Assistant Fire Marshal; was appointed Chief in 1878, and re-appointed in 1879, and has been a fireman fifteen years. Mr. D. was married at Fond du Lac, May 19, 1874, to Phoebe Lanners; they have four children --Alexander G., Paul J., Laona J., and George A., he is a member of St. Michaels Society and is President of the Fireman's Mutual Aid Society.

DANA, JAMES T.
Aged Druggist Stricken After Long Sickness
James T. Dana, Former County Official, Expires At Family Residence.
James T. Dana, 74, veteran druggist and former Register of deeds, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday at the residence, 357 Linden street. Mr. Dana's last illness began in August, 1929, and for the last 10 days he had been confined to his bed.
Long prominent as a leader in Democratic circle, Mr. Dana was honored with various offices throughout his long business career, extended over half a century in this city. He served as a member of the common council from the Fourth ward and for six terms represented the ward on the county board. He was elected register of deeds in 1902, defeating J. W. Eggert. After completing one term, Mr. Dana was defeated for election by E. T. Markle.
Was a Pioneer
Mr. Dana was one of the pioneer druggists of the community, a business which claimed his attention for more than 50 years. He was first a member of the firm of Dana and Marshall and for some years conducted the business as a private enterprise. At one time he conducted two pharmacies, one being known at the Lyon Drug store. The drug firm of Dana and Worm, the latter being George Worm, deceased, was organized in 1906. Six years ago, Mr. Dana disposed of his interests in the business, retiring to private life. The store has continued to be known as the Dana and Worm Drug company.
Mr. Dana was born Nov 2, 1855, in this city, the son of John and Louise Dana. He was educated in the public schools and began his business career at an early age. He was prominent fraternally, being a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus, Modern Woodsmen, Catholic Order of Foresters and the Equitable Fraternal union.
Leaves Family
Surviving he leaves two daughters, Miss Nina Dana of New York city, Miss Ruth Dana of this city, and one son, Dr. Fred T. Dana of this city. There are three sisters, Mrs. John Guepe, of this city, and the Misses Mary and Agnes Dana residing at Asbury Park, N. J. , and one brother, W. H. Dana of this city.  Mrs. Dana, who was formerly Miss Ella Reilly, died on Aug 20, 1914. A son, Donald Dana, died while in the army service in 1919. Funeral services are to be held at 8:30 a.m Wednesday from the residence and at 9 from St. Joseph's church with the Rev. J. J. Collins officiating. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery. The body was removed from the Hardgrove and Gordon Funeral home to the residence today.

DANA, MRS. JOHN
Mrs. John Dana Dies at Detroit. Body will be brought to this city tonight.
Funeral on Saturday. Body Will Lie In State at the Home of James T. Dana on West First Street.
Mrs. Elizabeth Dana, widow of John Dana, died at Detroit, Mich., Wednesday morning. The body will reach Fond du Lac at 10 o'clock this evening via the North Western and will be removed to the residence of James T. Dana, 90 West First street. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Joseph's church. Rev. J. J. Collins officiating, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends are kindly requested to omit flowers. Mrs. Dana, though absent from Fond du Lac for the past two or three years will be well and kindly remembered by a host of friends in Fond du Lac. She was born in Lomira, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malachi Riley, pioneer residents of that community. She was a sister of Mrs. James T. Dana, deceased. The Dana home on Fourth street. During her residence here Mrs. Dana was active in social circles and was at one time a member of the Woman's Club. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Peter Kabel, of Detroit, formerly Miss Bessie; and Mrs. Rollin Barrett, also of Detroit, who was Miss Genevieve. There are also three grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. James Russell of Marquette, Mich., and Mrs. Jennie Dwyer, who resides at Pickney, Mich. Mr. Dana died six years ago.

DANA, JOHN L. hatter, furrier and dealer in gents furnishings goods; born in the town of Fon du Lac Sept 12, 1851; he is a son of John Dana, who came to this county in 1844, and is now a resident of this city. The subject of this sketch was employed as a clerk in a grocery store for two years, and for five years, he was in the employ of Hoyt & Cole, hatters, of this city; in 1872, he engaged in business for himself.

DANA, JOHN N
Retired C. N. W. Trainman Dies; Ill for years.
John N. Dana, 60 Expires At Family Home; Rites To Be At St. Joseph
John N. Dana, 60, a retired railroad roadman, and veteran of World War I, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday at his home,. 449 Ellis street. He retired as a trainman for the Chicago and North Western railroad two years ago because of ill health.
A member of an early Fond du Lac family, Mr. Dana was the son of William H. and Josephine Dana, his father having been in railroad service for many years. He was born Feb 17, 1887, in Oshkosh and came to this city as a youth. His marriage to Miss Cleo Ford of this city was solemnized on Dec. 27, 1919 in St. Joseph church by the late Rev. J. J. Collins.
Mr. Dana was a member of St. Joseph church and its Holy Name society and also was affiliated with the Trier-Puddy post of the American Legion, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and of the Brotherhood of Railroad Engineers. Beside his widow, Mr. Dana leaves a son, Richard, who is at a military post at Battle Creek, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Phil Lezie of California; three brothers, Lawrence of Neenah, Charles of Milwaukee and David of Green Bay. The body will be in state at the Geo. M. Dugan funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. Services will be held there at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Leo Dana Dies At Home After Long Illness. Insurance Dealer 40 years, Former School Board Member, Expires.
Leo F. Dana, 58, lifelong resident of the city, former member of the city school board, who for 40 years was a engaged in the insurance and real estate business, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at his home, 85 East Johnson street, after an extended illiness. Although in failing health for several year, Mr. Dana was able to attend to his work as insurance adjuster until four weeks ago. A member of one of Fond du Lac's pioneer families, Mr. Dana was born Jan 11, 1882, son of George P. and Genevieve Dana, lifelong residents of the community. He attended St. Mary's parochial school and the Fond du Lac High school and after completing his course engaged in the insurance business. With exception of two years as a traveling special agent for the Continental Fire Insurance company Mr. Dana spent his long business career in this city. For many years he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks Lodge.  Surviving Mr. Dana are his widow, the former Miss Mathilda Weber of this city, to whom he was married Sept 29, 1908, in St. Mary's church by Rev. G. Wuelffing, two daughters, Mrs. Frank C. Kellerman of Watertown and Mrs. Raymond H. Ricklefs of this city, three sons, Dr. Robert L., Edward W. and George W., of this city, two grandchildren, Dana and John Kellerman, a sister, Mrs. T. C. Downs of Milwaukee, and three brothers, Alex G. and Paul J. of this city and Victor of Kenosha. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

DANA, MRS. LOUISA
Mrs. Louisa Dana, wife of John Dana Sr., passed away at her residence, 355 North Main street, at 7:15 Sunday morning, aged 84 years and 4 months.
Mrs. Dana was born at Schutzengen, Wittenberg, Germany. She was married to John Dana in 1844 at Cincinnati, O., and came to Wisconsin in 1847, settling on the Macy farm in Empire. In 1856, Mrs. and Mrs. Dana moved to North Main street, this city, where they have resided since that time. The deceased is survived by her aged husband and eight children, Mrs. Rosa Schneidler, St. Paul; Mary L., New York city; Mrs. John Guepe, Miss Agnes E. Dana, George P. Dana, John L., Dana, James T. Dana, and William H. Dana, of this city, and twenty-seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian mother and a good kind neighbor, and one whose friends were numbered by her acquaintances.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church at which solemn high mass will be held. Interment will be at Calvary cemetery. Friends please omit flowers.

DANA, LOUIS M.
Louis M. Dana, aged 38 years died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dana, 93 Main Street, at 2:05 o'clock this morning. The deceased had been an invalid for the past 25 years, and for the past three years had been confined to the house. He was born in this city, and is survived by his parents; five brothers, George P., James T., and John L., of this city; Frank M. of San Francisco, and William H. a conductor on the Wisconsin Central; and four sisters, Mrs. R. Schneidler of St. Paul, Mrs. John Gueppe and Miss Agnes Dana of this city and Miss Mary Dana of New York. The funeral announcement will be made later. Friends are requested to omit flowers.

DANA, PAUL J.
Paul J. Dana, a popular and well known citizen of Fond du Lac, has been engaged in business as the proprietor of a retail cigar store since 1908. His birth occurred in this city on the 1st of May, 1876. His father, George P. Dana, who was born about 1850, is engaged in business as a hardware merchant. He was an old-time gunsmith and made guns by hand during the period of Indian warfare. Unto him and his wife were born eight children. Alex is engaged in the real-estate and insurance business at Fond du Lac. Paul J., of this review, is the next in order of birth. Leona is the wife of a Fond du Lac lawyer and has two children, Genevieve and Charles. George, who wedded Miss Agnes Boyle, makes his home in Fond du Lac. Leo, who married Miss Tillie Weber, of Fond du Lac, is a traveling insurance adjuster for the insurance company represented by his brother Alex. Walter had just completed a course in medicine and opened offices in Fond du Lac when his demise occurred in 1911. His death was a great blow to the family, all of the other members of which still survive. Arthur is a practicing physician of Fond du Lac. Victor likewise makes his home in this city. Paul J. Dana attended the graded and high schools in the acquirement of an education and also pursued a course of study in a business college. When a youth of sixteen he entered his father's hardware store, remaining in his service for a period of sixteen years. In 1906 George P. Dana became sheriff of Fond du Lac county and our subject discharged the duties of under sheriff for two years. In 1908 Paul J. Dana embarked in business as the proprietor of a retail cigar store and has since conducted the same with gratifying success. He also conducts a first class pool and billiard room in connection with his store and owes his success to his personal popularity and the high class of trade to which he caters. Mr. Dana was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Normile, a daughter of Michael Normile, who is a lineman of Fond du Lac. Mr. Dana is an independent democrat in politics and served as an alderman for two years, from 1898 to 1900. He belongs to the Business Men's Association and fraternally is connected with the Knights of Columbus, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and the Columbian Knights of Wisconsin. St. Mary's church numbers him among its communicants. In the city where his entire life has been spent the circle of his friends is almost coextensive with the circle of his acquaintances.

DAVIES, THOMAS J.
Thomas J. Davies, 75, a resident of the Town of Utica, died last Monday at his home. The deceased was born May 4, 1855, at Meeme, Manitowoc County, and when a young man worked as a carpenter. He was married in 1882 to Miss Lottie Davis of Meeme, who died in 1903. He was married in 1913 to Mrs. Jenny Wanty of the Town of Utica. Surviving are a son,
Elmer S, Davies of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; two brothers, John of Sheboygan county and Lincoln of Portland; three sisters, Mrs. W.J. Jenkins of Omro, Mrs. P.T. Burns and Mrs. Anne E. Zarn of Chicago. Funeral services were held Thursday.

DENZIN, WILLIAM G.
Funeral services for William G. Denzin, who died Wednesday at  his home in the Town of Waupun, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Waupun Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. K.J. Herbener officiating. Surviving are the widow; two sons, Lester of the Town of LeRoy and Irwin at home; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Guenther of the Town of Waupun, Mrs. Arthur Hoeppner of the Town of Trenton, and Mrs. Herman Totz of Eldorado; three grandchildren; a brother, Fred Denzin of the Town of
Waupun; twin sons preceded him in death and a brother Louis, died two years ago. Burial will be in Rock River Cemetery.

AN OLD RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES Mrs. Eliza DeVoe Passes Away After Long Illness
LIVED IN COUNTY 67 YEARS
Leaves Eight Children, Sixteen Grandchildren and Thirteen Great Grandchildren  -- Funeral Today Mrs. Eliza DeVoe, a pioneer resident of Lamartine, died at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. Russell in Lamartine. She had been ill for a long time, being confined to her bed for the past three years. Mrs. DeVoe was 86 years, four months, and ten days old. She was born at DeWitt, N.Y., near Syracuse, but had been a resident of Lamartine for the past 67 years. She leaves six sons, B.F., of Los Angeles, Cal., Allen, of Byron, Clare of Rogersville, Charles, Cass and Fred of this city; two daughters, Mrs. H. Russell and Miss Eva DeVoe of Lamartine; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The funeral for Mrs. DeVoe will be held this afternoon from the residence of Mrs. Russell, burial will following in the Lamartine Cemetery.

DIEDRICH, MISS ELIZABETH
RESIDENT FOR 71 YEARS HERE DEAD
Miss Elizabeth Diedrich Came to State at 10 Years Old Miss Elizabeth Diedrich, 81 years of age, a native of Bavaria, Germany
who has passed 71 years of her long life in the vicinity of Fond du Lac, died last evening at the home of John Nies at Mount Calvary. Death resulted from diseases incident to old age. Miss Diedrich was a sister of Mrs. John Warner, with whom she lived for a great many of years. She was born August 9, 1841 and came with her parents to the state when she was but ten years of age. Funeral services will be conducted from the home of Mr. Nies at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Burial will be at Lyons Cemetery in the Town of Forest. Miss Diedrich is survived by her sister, Mrs. Wagner, who is the only living near relative.

WIFE OF EARLY TINNER EXPIRES AT FAMILY HOME
Mrs. F.W. Diedrich, 72, Dies In Sleep After Month Illness; Rites Arranged. Mrs. Frederick W. Diedrich, 72, wife of a pioneer tinner in the city and a lifelong resident of the county, was found dead in bed this morning at her home, 4 Boyle place having expired in her sleep. Mrs. Diedrich had been in ill health for a month. The former Catherine Wagner wasborn in Calvary, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wagner, and moved to Fond du Lac with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Diedrich were married June 1, 1899, in St. Mary Church, Mrs. Diedrich was a member of the Altar Society of the church. Surviving besides the widower, are two daughters and two sons, Isabelle, Mrs. Fred Arthur, Frederick N., and Leo J. Diedrich, all of the city; seven grandchildren and two sisters and a brother, Miss Clara Wagner of Plymouth, Mrs. Frank Williams of Spring Valley and J.J. Wagner, city. Funeral services will be sold at 8:45 a.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Dugan funeral home, where the body will be in state after 2 p.m. Wednesday, and at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Funeral Rites - dated: 12-6-1946 Funeral services for Mrs. Frederick W. Diedrich, were held at 8:45 a.m. today at the Geo. M. Dugan funeral home and at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's church, the Very Rev. Peter W. Gersbach officiating. The Rev. William J. Huemmer of Plymouth, former assistant at St. Patrick church, was seated in the sanctuary. Pallbearers were Edgar and Clemens Wagner, Raymond Willmas, Leonard Diedrich, Richard Soll and Ernest Franzen. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Among those attending the rites were Miss Clara Wagner of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Willmas and son, Raymond of Spring Valley; Miss Marion Willmas, Mrs. Mary Diedrich and Lester Diedrich of Milwaukee; Joseph Diedrich, Leonard Diedrich and Mrs. Leo Schmitz of Johnsburg, Nicholas and Ernest Frazen and Mr. and Mrs. N. Karls of Stockbridge. Miss Caroline Kloeppel and Miss Margaret Wicklein of Charlesburg; Mrs. Margaret Haensgen and Miss Laura Haensgen of Calvary, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mischo of Kiel; H.J. Konen of Milwaukee and a number of others from surrounding places.

 

Obituary - From the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter- Dated: 3-25-1907

DIETRICH, PETER
A SUDDEN DEATH
Young Man Well Known Here Killed By Bursting Emery Wheel Peter Dietrich of Johnsburg was accidently killed Saturday afternoon by being struck by a flying piece of an emery wheel which burst while he was engaged in working on the machine. The wheel was attched top a steam engine by a belt. Without warning the young man was struck just over the the left eye and dropped to the ground and those nearby rushed to pick him up, but found that he was dead. The young man was about 22 years of age and his death came as a great shock to his friends. He was a brother of F.W. Dietrich of this city who conducts a tin shop on North Main street. Mr. Dietrich went to Johnsburg Sunday to attend the funeral which was held from Johnsburg church to the adjoining cemetery today.

DIERENGER, Andrew, farmer, section 7 Town of Auburn; born in Germany Nov 30, 1823, he spent his early life and was educated and learned blacksmithing in Germany. Came to America July 4, 1844 and spent about 10 years at blacksmithing and on the canals in Ohio; in 1854 he settled on a heavily timbered farm in Ashford, in section 30; the 1855 WI State Census lists 6 males and 2 females in the household. After seven years he bought the Griffith saw mill and 80 acres of land with it. In 1868 he settled on 240 acres of land in the Town of Auburn, building a 40 x 84 ft. basement barn. He first served two years as a supervisor of Ashford Township and was then Chairman for 10 years. In 1865 and again in 1869 he was chosen a member of the Wisconsin Legislature and has been twice Chairman of the Town of Auburn. He was the first President of the Ashford Insurance Company, and in 1875 he had charge of the material used in building an addition to the St. Francis Seminary, Milwaukee. In 1874 he was appointed by the court to be the guardian of 6 Hegner orphans, whose father had died in 1865 and whose mother died in 1872. He married, in Ohio, Miss Crescentia Strobel (born 18 Sept 1818) and they were the parents of eight children: Valentine, born 1847 in Ohio Frank X., born 1850 in Ohio Joseph, born 1851 in Ohio Anna Mary, born 1853 in Ohio; married Jacob Straub 2 Feb. 1874; died 15 Apr 1883 at age 30. Andrew, born 1855 in WI, married Margaret Mauel on Jan 28, 1878. Catherine, born 1858 in WI; married John Mauel on March 4, 1878 Philipp, born 1860 in WI Thomas J. 1861-1935; married Rosalia Mauch (1864-1958) and they had daughters Rosalia who died in Jan 1886 at age 1 yr and 7 mo., and Olive, both buried in St. Matthew's cemetery. Andrew died 5 Oct 1915, and his wife died 14 May 19901. Thomas Strobel, born 21 Dec. 1798 and died 9 Dec 1888 is buried in the same plot with Andrew and Crecintia, and is probably Crecintia's father.

DILLON, JOHN W.
John W. Dillon, a veteran photographer of this city, died Friday evening at 9:40 o'clock at his home No. 751 Main Street, after an extended illness. Besides a widow, the deceased is survived by two sons, Frank E. and Harry W., both of Chicago. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence, Rev. Joseph Hayes Chandler officiating. Masonic services will be conducted at the grave in Rienzi cemetery. Mr. Dillon was born in London, England on October 27, 1847. When at the age of 12 years he emigrated to America and located in New York. He enlisted in Battery B, Fifth United States artillery, and served during the civil war for a term of three years. After the war the deceased took up his residence in Chicago, where he remained until 1870, when he came to Fond du Lac and engaged in the photographing business. His gallery was located at No. 490 Main Street. The deceased was a charter member of Fidelity Lodge, No. 19, Knights of Pythias, and a member of the Masonic fraternity. He served for three years as alderman from the Eigth ward. Funeral Rites - Dated: 11-23-1903 The funeral of the late John W. Dillon was held from the family residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. Joseph Hayes Chandler officiating. The musical portion of the service was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mrs. L.A. Bishop, Messrs. F.M. Givens and J.W. Watson. The pallbearers were C.F. Libbey, D.B. Foster, W.O. Pritchard, Dr. G.B. McKnight, William DeSteese and H.E. Swett. The Masons attended the funeral in a body and Masonic rites were observed at the grave. Interment was at Rienzi. The floral offering was large and included several set pieces, besides many roses and carnations.

DODGE, EDWARD F. At his home in Fond du Lac, Friday morning, Jan 30, 1891 of Bright's Disease, aged nearly 55 years.

Services in honor of the deceased were held at Fond du Lac conducted by Rev F. W. Merrill of the Episcopal church.  The remains were brought to Ft Atkinson, WI on the 11 o'clock train on Monday, accompanied by the bereaved wife and the doctor's son Guy, Rev Merrill and a score of more of Fond du Lac friend, occupying a special coach.  The body was taken to Evergreen cemetery shortly after arrival, followed by friend in carriages.  The internment occurred in the midst of a heavy snow storm.

The pall bearers included four of the principal physicians of Fond du Lac, Drs. SS Bowers, Wm. Wiley, J.H. McNell, and S. S. Stack also Messrs. J. C. Huber and G. I. Susan.  Other members of the funeral party were: Mr. E. J. Foster and sister Miss Etta, Fond du Lac, Mr and Mrs. T. J. Brandon, Antigo, Mrs. W.C. Casler and son Charles, Chicago, relatives; also Mr. Aaron Martin and Misses Carrie and Gertie Martin, Mesdames B. Garvin and G. I. Susan, Misses Mabel and Lula Curtis.

DOUGHERTY, Barney, ----(?) Dougherty died Nov 18, 1875 at age 8, and a few days later Patrick Dougherty died on Nov 22, 1875 at age 22. Both are buried in St. Matthew's cemetery, in lot #27, that was purchased by Barney Dougherty in 1875. Patrick's tombstone also has the names of Owen and Joseph Dougherty, but no dates.

Edward E. Dougherty, the 18 month old son of Mrs. John Dougherty, died at 12 o'clock Tuesday noon, at the family home, 41 Thorp Street. The funeral will be held at 8 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Patrick's Church, with interment at Byron.

DOYLE, Patrick, (15 Dec 1836 - 20 May 1909) married Mary Carroll (d. 18 March 1890) and they were the parents of: John, born 2 Oct and bapt 31 Oct 1869 Bernard, born 25 Jan and bapt 16 Feb 1873; died 4 Oct 1953 Ellen, 25 Mar 1875 - 21 Oct 1928 Jane 1867 - 1937 m. ___Walsh There is also a Jane Doyle buried in the cemetery, who died 12 Jan 1882 at age 81, who is likely his mother.

DOYLE, ROSE
OLD RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES
Rose Doyle, Formerly of Oakfield, Expires at Catholic Home Here Rose Doyle, age 82, resident of Oakfield for many years, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday at the Catholic Home for the Aged. The deceased was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1844 and when a child moved with her parents to Oakfield in 1852, residing there until five years ago, when she came to this city. Miss Doyle was a sister of the late M.D. Doyle of Oak Center. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. George Pattison of Oakfield and Mrs. C.W. McCready of Green Bay and two nephews, Roland and William of Oakfield. The body was taken to the S.B. Mahoney Funeral Home, 171 North Main street, where the funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday and at 10 from St. John's church at Byron. The Rev. G. Kosterman will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

DUFFY, JAMES A , born Abt. 1855 in WI; died May 10, 1895 in Fond du Lac, WI2. He was the son of 2. Thomas Duffy and 3. AnnMcEntee. He married Mary McNeely April 23, 1882 in Fond Du Lac, WI. She was born November 01, 1863 in Fond du Lac, WI, and died April 14, 1951 in Peebles, Fond du Lac, WI. She was the daughter of Patrick McNeely and Susan McCoy. James Duffy died at age 38 - death was caused by a farming accident and his wife, Mary (McNeely) was pregnant with their sixth child, Anna Mae. Burial: Abt. May 10, 1895, St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah, Fond du Lac. Mary McNeely Duffy buried Abt. April 14, 1951, St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah, Fond du Lac, WI.

GEORGE DU FRANE EXPIRES AT HOME. Had Been Lifelong Resident of Fond du Lac and Vicinity The death of George
Du Frane occurred at his home, 401 Doty street, at 6:10 a.m. today. Mr. Du Frane was born in the Town of Friendship on April 12, 1876, and had spent all of his life in the vicinity of Friendship and Fond du Lac. For a number of years he was employed by the Wisconsin Power and LIght Company. Surviving relatives are a daughter, Mrs. R.P. Berens, three sons, Ambrose, Bernard and Lawrence; a grandson, Elmer; two brothers, Stephen and Edward Du Frane; and six sisters, Mrs. Edward De Rusha, Mrs. Arthur Venne, Mrs. Eugene Bastian, Mrs. Wilfred Bastian, Mrs. Gerald Finnegan and Mrs. J.L. Curley all reside in this city with the exception of Mrs. Wilfred Bastian, Mrs. Finnegan and Mrs. Curley, whose homes are in Racine, Topeka, Kansas and Los Angeles, CA., respectively. The funeral will be held at St. Louis church at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. J.H. Racette officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.

Frank Dunn, 76, of highway 151, died today at St. Agnes Hospital where he was removed Friday. Born June 15, 1882, in the Town of Eldorado, the son of John and Mary Henning Dunn, he had lived in Fond du Lac a number of years, having worked at Stateson's cafe. Friends may call at the Candlish chapel after 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be there at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Paul G. Piotter officiating. Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.

AGED WOMAN IS DEAD AT BYRON
Mrs. Emma Durant, 86, Oak Center Resident, Dies At Daughter's Home Mrs. Emma Durant, 86, widow of George Durant Sr., of Oak Center, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.A. Yantz, Town of Byron. She was born June 1, 1844 in Lincolnshire, England and came to this country in 1875, settling on a farm near Oakfield. The deceased is survived by 8 children, John of Chicago, George of Waupun, James of Byron, Fred of Ft. Atkinson and Frank of Oshkosh, Tom of Waupun and by two daughters, Mrs. E.A. Yantz of Byron and Mrs. Bernard Duer of Waupun. A daughter, Elizabeth preceded her in death in 1918. There are also 16 grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the E.A. Yantz resident with the Rev. J.E. Cheek officiating. Burial will be at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.

Was Resident of County Nearly 50 years
George Durant Sr., aged 35 years, died at 10:30 o'clock Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest A. Yantz in the Town of Byron. He leaves in addition to his wife, seven sons and two daughters, one daughter having preceded him in death. The children are John P. Du rant of Chicago; George P. Durant Jr., Waupun; Frederick Durant of Fort Atkinson; William Durant of Waukesha; Francuis Durant of Oshkosh; Mrs. B.J. Duer of Rock River; Mrs. E.A. Yantz of Byron; Thomas and James at home. Mr. Durant was born in Lincolnshire, England and came to this country 48 years ago. Mr. Durant was a farmer and had made his home near Oak Center since coming to this country. The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. E.A. Yantz, the Rev. N.J. Alderson of Oakfield will have charge. Burial will be in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
