His parents moved to Genesee Co., N.Y., in 1832. He came to Wisconsin in 1845, arriving at Milwaukee Nov. 5; came to Lake Mills in 1846; took up 120 acres of Government land where his present farm is situated. His farm now comprises 520 acres, under cultivation except sixty-five acres. Besides farming, he carried on the nursery business for twelve years.
