CONRAD FAILINGER, merchant, Waterloo; born in Prussia Feb. 16, 1838; came to America in 1848, locating at Waterloo; in 1850, engaged as clerk in the mercantile business at Portland; in 1859, went to farming until 1861; came to Waterloo as clerk in a dry-goods store; in 1862, went with an army sutler as clerk; returned to Waterloo, where, in 1866, he went into the mercantile business at his present store. Has been Treasurer of the village and Treasurer of the town. Married, in Jefferson Co., Wis., Dec. 13, 1865, Lydia S.M.
