Essex MORSE, James Vermont Historical Magazine, No. XI, October 1867, p 977 (extracted from a section on the history of Concord, Essex County, Vermont) James MORSE, Esq., came to Concord [Essex County, Vermont] in February 1792, there being then only six families in town. He came from Barre [Worcester County], Massachusetts, bringing a pack upon his back weighing ninety-one and a half pounds. He was a man of strong, hardy endurance, great memory, and untiring energy.
