Essex FULLER, Henry Men of Vermont: Illustrated Biographical History of Vermonters & Sons of Vermont. Ullery. Brattleboro: Transcript Publishing Company, 1894, pp 147-148 Henry FULLER, of Bloomfield [Essex County, Vermont], was born 26 August 1838 in Maidstone [Essex County, Vermont], son of Henry and T. (BOWKER) FULLER. When two years old his father removed to Bloomfield, where the subject has since resided. His education was confined to such instruction as could be had in the high schools and in Derby Academy. Farming has been the steady occupation of Mr. FULLER, though he has given some attention to teaching. Having from his early youth a great desire to travel and see the world outside the narrow limits of his home surroundings, he was unable to indulge this longing until he had arrived at the years of middle life, but in 1892 he gratified his cherished wish and spent the greater part of a year in visiting every portion of his native land from the Atlantic to the Pacific, traveling more than eight thousand miles to effect his purpose. The grandfather of Mr. FULLER, with his brother [great uncle of the subject], came to Minehead, now Bloomfield [Essex County, Vermont], in or about 1800. He [the grandfather of the subject] raised a family of ten children, nine of whom lived to the age of eighty years. Mr. FULLER has been a lifelong Democrat, though in his latter days he has had a tendency towards Prohibition. He has been constable, collector, selectman, and town clerk for thirteen years, and has held other minor offices. At the age of seventeen he joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, and during his whole life has earnestly labored in the cause. Devoting himself to the welfare of the parish and Sabbath school, he has been steward for many years, and served on various church committees. On 31 May 1864 he [Henry FULLER] married Miss Nettie W. COLBY, of Whitefield [Coos County], New Hampshire, which union was blessed with two sons: Henry Clarence, who died 09 October 1867; and Asa C., now a preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs. FULLER [Nettie W. (COLBY) FULLER, died 15 January 1868. For his second wife Mr. [Henry] FULLER married Miss May L., daughter of Mary and Nathan M. JOHNSON, of Bloomfield.
