Essex BERRY, Joseph Vermont Historical Magazine, No XI, October 1867, p 1007 (biographical note extracted from a section dealing with the history of Guildhall, Essex County, Vermont) Joseph BERRY's name first appears on record as one of the seven who were first formed into a church organization in the year 1799, and was appointed deacon in 1803. He represented the town [Guildhall, Essex County, Vermont] in 1816; was state's attorney in the years 1815, 1817, 1818, 1823, and 1824; and chief judge of the county court in 1822 and 1823.
