Co., 1894, Part II, Sons of Vermonters, p 4 (portrait p 4) John Mead ALBEE, of Gallups Mills [Essex County, Vermont], was born 14 January 1854 in Derby [Essex County, Vermont], son of John G. and Sarah S. (BLAKE) ALBEE. He was educated in the public schools of Holland [Orleans County, Vermont] and Island Pond [Essex County, Vermont], and engaged in business as a lumber manufacturer at Island Pond, Vermont, and at Whitefield [Coos County], New Hampshire, until 1882, when he moved to Granby [Essex County, Vermont], and was employed by the firm of Buck & Wilcox. His business capacity soon brought him promotion, and for several years past he has filled the position of foreman of the extensive works of C. H. STEVENS and the Northern Lumber Company. Mr. ALBEE is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Politically he has been a worker in the ranks of the Republican Party. He has been Selectman and represented the town of Granby in the Legislature of 1888. On 31 October 1876 John Mead ALBEE was married to Alivia, daughter of John and Nancy WEBSTER.
