Levi G McKnight had married Catherine H. P. Elliott in Hartford, CT. From what I learned was that he was born in Ellington, CT, and could have met his wife in Beverly, MA. They also had two sons, Gilbert E., who was born in 1869 and died 1870. His other son was Elliot J., who was born in 1879. I don't know who Elliot J. had married, but he did inherit his father's business. Elliot J. McKnight had a son, Frank L., who had become the president and treasurer of the company. The company itself had done important defense work for the government during World War II. Hope that this information will help with the research, and thank you very much.
I am looking for information concerning Levi G. McKnight, born 1843 and died 1916. He had married Caroline H. P. Elliott, born 1841 and died 1914. He moved to Gardner, Massachusetts, and had served during the American Civil War. He later formed the McKnight Machinery Works company here in Gardner, and had become one of the most famous industries in Gardner. I would like to know what the genealogy is on his family, as I have been compiling a comprehensive study on the families of Gardner, MA. I am also a member of the local historical commission, and am undertaking a project in which to re-write the last History of Gardner, MA, by William D. Herrick, published in 1878. Thank you very much and wish to be hearing from you soon.

I visited an Ellington cemetery many years ago and saw that Ellington was the home of MANY McKinneys. I'm looking for the birth, marriage and death dates of Erastus Mckinney. He married Betsey White (1787-1836) in Manchester, Ct. Two sons, Henry( 1810-1847)and John (1812- 1845), were born in Manchester as well. All three died early of consumption,, and this may have been the fate of Erastus as well. I've been told that he was the son of James and Margaret, buried in Ellington, but have no proof. I've been looking for this information for many years with no results. I hope you can help me, and will be truly grateful.

I am looking for information on the Native American ancestry in my family,
and looking for information on a man by the name of Indian White, who lived on
the North End of Shnipsit Lake, which I believe may have been on the Ellington
side of the Snip. I was told that my Great Grandmother, Lucelia Dimmock, worked
for Indian White. I believe there is a possibility that Indian White is my
Grandfather, Ernest Dimmock (of Tolland, born in Ellington) biological father,
born in 1884. I would appreciate any information about Indian White, and any
Native American tribes that lived in the area at that time. Blessings.

I am looking for proof of the death of Leverett Buckland 26 Aug 1853 age 56. This date is given in the book "Genealogies and Biographies of Ancient Windsor". His wife was Doxey or Docia Parker. What other cemeteries are there beside the Crystal Lake Cemetery? My gr gr grandfather was a Leverett Buckland living in 1850 in Buffalo NY but born in CT and by his age, born ca 1797. There are two possibilities, Leverett the son of Jonathan and Laura, or Leverett the son of Walter and Elizabeth. That second couple moved to Stanstead Quebec which is just across the border from Vermont.

Dr. Joel CARPENTER who died 1789 and Hannan RUGGLES who died 1799 went to Ellington, CT about 1765 where he practiced medicine. They died and are buried in Ellington. Among several children they had a son Levi CARPENTER who married Hannah KEYES about 1795 in Ashford, CT. Another son was Dr. Ruggles CARPENTER who married Julianna PIERCE 15 Oct 1799 in Ellington. This latter family went to DeRuyter, Madison co., NY where Dr. Ruggles CARPENTER died in 1836.
I am particularly interest in corresponding with someone related to either of these two brothers. I am also interested in learning the parents of Hannah KEYES. I have descendants of the first family I can share.

I came to Ellington at age 4 in 1969 and graduated from Ellington High School in 1983. I returned again, after a brief stint in the Air Force, in 1986 I stayed until Pratt & Whitney transferred me to Jupiter Florida in 1989. I would have liked to stay, but circumstances would not allow it. Although I must say that when I visited in 2000 things had most certainly changed. The cows didn't out number the people anymore and the roads were packed. Anyway, I would like to know the populations of the years I lived in Ellington and the number of students who attended the schools that I did. Center Elementary, Longview Jr High and Ellington High School. I'm in the process of writing something and would like to include some of this info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My grandmother was born in Ellington, CT in the mid-to-late 1920s. She was born to John Krawiec and Anna Crouse. The problem I have found is that her parents died within a few years of her birth and she has very little information on them. Her parents were most likely immigrants from Russia/Poland/Ukraine/Germany (based on physical attributes of my grandmother and last names). My grandmother's birth name is Katryna Krawiec, but somewhere along the line this become Catherine Crouse. After her parents death, she was in an orphanage for awhile and then was raised by her siblings from her mother's previous marriage. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

DERBY / LOCKWOOD / MOULTON / FOGIL
I have been trying to find the parentage of Elizabeth DERBY LOCKWOOD. Her daughter's death certificate gives Elizabeth DERBY's place of birth as Willington, Tolland Co., CT, but she cannot be found there. I have recently been told that a DERBY family lived in Ellington. Perhaps the death cert. informant got it wrong. Below is a brief synopsis of this family. Can anyone place the mother for me?
Elizabeth DERBY
...was born c1798 in Willington, Tolland Co., CT. She married Timothy LOCKWOOD. He was born c1792 in Belchertown, Hampshire Co., MA. He was a farmer in Gilead, Tolland Co, CT, and his parentage is unknown as yet.
Only known child of Elizabeth DERBY and Timothy LOCKWOOD is:
i. Cornelia W. LOCKWOOD, b. 9 May 1836, Gilead, Tolland Co., CT; d. 28 August 1898, Hebron, Tolland Co., CT; m. (1) Lyman MOULTON, 1 April 1855, Andover, Tolland Co., CT (4 children); m. (2) John Michael FOGIL, c1868, Gilead, Tolland Co., CT (3 children). One record has Cornelia listed as Wealthy C. LOCKWOOD.
I'd love to hear from anyone else researching these families. Thanks.
