YOUNG, first engineer, Empire Lumber Company, Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin], came to Wisconsin in 1869 and located at Eau Claire, where he has been employed in his present capacity since. Leonard J. YOUNG was born in Skowhegan [Somerset County], Maine, 20 December 1840. He was engaged in the capacity of engineer for fifteen years on various Mississippi River steamboats. He took the first steamer down the Red River to Hudson [County, ST] in 1858. In 1868 Leonard J. YOUNG was married at Minneapolis [probably Hennepin County, but could be Anoka or Carver County], Minnesota, to Mary J. SEARLES, who was born in New York [State]. Leonard J. and Mary J.
