WI BIO - Eau Claire Co - WILLIAMS, George S. History of Northern Wisconsin. Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1881, vol I, p 337 George S. WILLIAMS, barber, Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, was born in 1852 in New York City. He came to Eau Claire in 1864. Mr. WILLIAMS was in the family of J. I. GILBERT, of the Eau Claire Lumber Company, for seven years. He learned his trade in 1873 in the Williams House. By industry and frugality, he saved enough to open a first class barber shop in 1878, on Barstow Street, opposite the Eau Claire House [in Eau Claire, Wisconsin]. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
