Chicago: Western Historical, 1881, vol I, p 345 William ROSBROOK, farmer, Section 30, Town of Ludington [Eau Claire County, Wisconsin], was born 31 December 1839 in Hastings, Oswego County, New York, and lived there until 1842. Afterward he lived in Waukesha, Washington, Winnebago, and Dane Counties [all of which were counties before 1842 except Waukesha, part of Milwaukee County until 31 January 1846] until he came to Ludington [Eau Claire County] in the fall of 1866. [What became the State of Wisconsin was contained within the Territory of Wisconsin until 29 May 1848, when statehood was achieved.] He has been engaged in farming ever since he came here [Ludington Township, Eau Claire County], except for a few winters spent lumbering in the pineries. In May 1866 in Pleasant Springs, Dane County, Wisconsin, he [William ROSBROOK] was married to [Miss] Amelia C. CAMPBELL, daughter of R. D. CAMPBELL; she was born in Illinois. They [William and Amelia C. (CAMPBELL) ROSBROOK] have six children: Lilly Belle, Lottie Viola, Charles D., George W., Freddie, and Rosiel D.
