From Memorial and Genealogical Record of Dodge and Jefferson Counties, Wisconsin, publ. 1894 - Page 231-232 D. G. FRASER. In no branch of manufacture have greater improvements been made than in the agricultural implement business, and the firm of GRISWOLD & FRASER, of which the subject of this sketch is an active member, make it their aim and object to keep the latest and best improved machinery and implements, and as their methods of conducting their affairs are always strictly honorable, they have built up an exceptionally large and lucrative trade. D. G. FRASER, the senior member of the firm, was born in Bonnie Scotland, December 31, 1842, and in 1850 accompanied his parents, James and Isabel (GUTHRIE) FRASER, to this country, and with them located on a farm four miles south of Lake Mills, where the mother died two years later, and the father in 1871. In addition to tilling the soil, the father was a carpenter by trade, and throughout his entire life bore an excellent reputation. He identified himself with the Republican party after coming to this country, and socially was a member of the I.O.O.F. He became well known in this country, and his correct mode of living, and his genial and kindly disposition won him numerous friends. His family consisted of three children: George, who is a prosperous stockman of California; Agnes, who is the wife of Thomas WHITE, of California, and D. G., the subject of this sketch. He has been a resident of Jefferson County, Wis., ever since he was eight years of age, and his scholastic education was obtained at Lake Mills and Albion. He started out in business life in 1868, in Lake Mills, as a dealer in farming implements, and in 1875 he engaged in this business also in Waterloo, and in 1877 the firm of GROSWOLD & FRASER was formed, George S. GRISWOLD, father of the present member of the firm, Fred M., being then the senior partner. They carry a very large and select stock, and as they use every means to please their patrons their patronage has grown to very large proportions, and is constantly on the increase. Mr. FRASER is a shrewd and practical business man, and as he devotes his whole time and attention to his work it is not to be wondered at that he has succeeded. He owns the old home farm, which he tills and manages, besides valuable real estate in Lake Mills, and is well fixed financially. For the past twenty-seven years he has been a member of the I.O.O.F., and is one of the oldest members of Sagola Lodge of Lake Mills, which he has represented in the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin. He has always been a very active Republican, and has held a number of official positions in the city, the duties of which he discharged in a very acceptable manner. He was married to Miss Helen A. HARBECK, of this county, a daughter of William and Betsey HARBECK, who came to this county about 1847 or 1848, both being now dead. Submitted by Carol
