From Memorial and Genealogical Record of Dodge and Jefferson Counties, Wisconsin, publ. 1894 - Page 36-37 AMASA B. CLARK. This honest old pioneer farmer of Dodge County, Wis., has fought the battle of life bravely and well, and is now living retired from the active duties of life and in the enjoyment of a competency which his early industry brought him. He was born in Henderson, Jefferson County, N.Y., June 21, 1823, a son of John H. CLARK, a native of the same State and county, where he reared his family and spent his life. When a young man, A. B. CLARK followed the life of a sailor on the great lakes for two years, and on the 11th of June 1845, united his fortunes with those of Miss Louisa IVARY, who was born, reared, educated and was married to him in Jefferson County. They soon after started West by water, and in October 1845, arrived in Dodge County, Wis., and in the spring of 1847 Mr. CLARK located on the farm on which he now resides, entering a tract of eighty acres, on which he built a substantial log house and in it made his home for several years. While clearing and breaking his land, he made other improvements also, and when his means permitted he bought more land, which he also improved. He now has a neat and substantial brick residence on his place, a good barn, outbuildings, etc., and his farm is considered one of the most valuable in that section. Mr. and Mrs. CLARK have reared three children: Judson H. is a farmer of Argyle, Minn.; Albert J., and Elvie May, who is the wife of Leon REIBEL, of Mayville, Wis., by whom she has two children, Genevieve and Vernon. Mr. CLARK has always identified himself with the Republican party, and has held a number of local positions of trust and honor, but of his own accord would never have aspired to office. For nearly fifty years he has resided in Dodge County, is one of the honored first settlers of the State, and is one of the respected original members of the Mayville Lodge of Odd Fellows, and has been an active member of this organization for years. He is a man of tried integrity, and is in every way worthy of the confidence which is bestowed upon him. Submitted by: Carol Holmbeck
